the counseling practice

Sexual Health and Wellness was founded under the belief that knowledge is potential power.
Our counselors are experts in sexual health and dysfunction.
Both Jenna and Shaina are medically trained and still clinically practice.
Seeing a need in their community for counselors specializing in sexual health, who also have medical training, they both completed post Master's education and training to provide counseling.

While Jenna and Shaina are practicing healthcare providers, within the context of Sexual Health and Wellness, they provide counseling, and do not perform physical exams, order labs, or prescribe medication. In the event they believe you need a healthcare provider to perform an exam/order labs/prescribe medication, Jenna and Shaina have the resources to recommend professionals and specialist to best address any physical concerns.

Sexuality Counselor
What greater gift is there than discovering the key to great physical and mental health? My curiosity about science, and specifically the human body, started in high school biology and anatomy classes. Now as an adult, and practicing Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), I realize that sexual health is a vital component of our well-being and happiness. My medical education only skimmed the surface of sexual dysfunction. I sought additional training through the Buehler Institute to become a sexuality counselor and to help individuals and partners to benefit from expanded understanding of sexuality. For over a decade I have had the privilege of  caring for families throughout the life changing experience of pregnancy. I knew I was making a difference every time one of my clients would say "because you were there I felt safe, empowered, cared for and strong." My goal is to bring this same enthusiasm and knowledge to my clients at Sexual Health and Wellness. My approach is that through positivity and sensitivity, without judgement, and with the respect for the uniqueness and common ground of individuals fulfilling sexual experiences can be realized.
